Capturing interest and leads with A/B testing
How one homepage test about a free trial lifted Spreedly’s contact form submissions by 34%.
The challenge
Spreedly, a B2B payment orchestration platform that supports clients transacting with multiple payment services, recently matured into A/B testing. It stood up AB Tasty (now Wingify) as its platform of choice, along with CXperts to support the launch of its overall testing program and build its first tests.
One of those tests ran on the Spreedly homepage, with the hypothesis that visitors may not know about the free trial when they arrive, and that improving that message would improve engagement and conversions.
How CXperts helped
Launching the testing program
CXperts supported the launch of Spreedly’s overall testing program on AB Tasty (now Wingify) and built its initial tests.
Testing the free-trial message
CXperts worked with Spreedly to identify an A/B/n test that added context for the trial, with only one variation mentioning “free”, since some visitors may care more about relevance than savings.
The results
CXperts helped Spreedly achieve a 34% increase in contact form submissions, the site’s main goal, with 90% statistical significance. Although clicks on the call to action didn’t increase, exposure to “Free Trial” had a positive effect.
Many other engagement goals also improved with statistical confidence, including pages visited, scroll depth, time on site and revisit rate, which suggests more interest generated and potential long-tail conversions.
